About JC Walkup

She came from a small, East Texas farm t o earn a Bachelor’s Degree from University of Texas in Arlington. During five years of working for United Artists in downtown Dallas, she developed an interest in fashion, but circumstances took her in another direction.

After thirty-five years working in the defense industry for Vought Aircraft in Texas and Northrop Grumman in California and Georgia, she retired to North Carolina with her husband. There she followed her lifelong dream of writing. She wrote features for the newspapers and wrote a weekly book review under her byline. Those years in the defense industry did not prepare her t o work as a writer. Going through the University of North Carolina’s Great Smokies Writing Program did that.

In collaboration with two partners, she became the publisher of a literary magazine, Fresh Stories, Essays and Poems.

During her eighteen years the Blue Ridge Mountains, she produced two stage plays, numerous prize-winning short stories, and four novels. She is in the process of completing the third novel in a trilogy set in West Texas. These books show how both beautiful and ugly events shaped the state and Texans.
